The Glider D-2 AFC

Clean from the inside.

The inside of a window is easy. The outside is the part you give up on. The Glider D-2 AFC holds a second cleaning head against the exterior glass with magnets — you move the inside half, and the outside half follows, cleaning the face you cannot reach.

01 The product

The Glider D-2 AFC

Cleans both faces of the pane in one pass/controlled entirely from inside/adjustable magnetic force, designed in Switzerland

Tyroler adjustable magnetic window cleaner — a hand guiding the red Glider D-2 AFC across a wet window pane

Made for glass 0.08″–0.7″

2–18 mm — most single panes and thinner double-glazed units/adjustable magnets rather than one fixed strength/measure the glass itself, not the frame

You are shopping for the Glider D2-AFC — window thickness range 0.08 inch to 0.7 inch, 2 mm to 18 mm, with adjustable magnets
02 Why it works

Rubber squeegees, not sponges

Rubber edges lift the water off the glass and microfiber polishes it clear. Sponge-based cleaners push the dirt around and leave it behind as streaks.

The only Glider that leaves windows clean and shiny — rubber squeegee and microfiber result compared with a sponge-based window cleaner

Adjustable Force Control

Two knobs dial the pull to the pane in front of you/strong enough to hold through the glass, light enough to glide/one tool across the whole thickness range

Rare-earth magnets

Large discs keep a solid grip through the glass instead of drifting apart mid-stroke — yes to gliding, no to unwanted sliding.

Natural rubber blades

They hold their edge for years/no cheap foam scrubbers that flop over after a few windows/a pro-grade tool, not a gadget

03 How to use it

Seven steps, about a minute to set up

Cord/magnets/assemble/spray/S-pattern/cloths/final wipe. It becomes automatic after the first window.

How to use the Glider — seven simple steps to crystal-clear windows

Steps 1–2 · Secure the cord, set the magnets

The cord’s ring goes on your finger and stays there for the whole job. Set the magnets to the middle position — the default starting point for most windows.

Step 1, secure the safety cord ring on your finger. Step 2, set the magnets at the medium position

Steps 3–4 · Assemble, then spray both sides

Join the two halves around the pane and fine-tune the pull until gliding is smooth and neither part falls off. Then wet everywhere the Glider is going to travel.

Step 3, assemble the Glider around the window and adjust the magnets. Step 4, spray cleaning solution on both sides of the glass

Steps 5–6 · Clean in an S shape, attach the cloths

Work from the top down, slowly, reapplying solution as needed. The wiping cloths slot into the holes on the Glider for the finishing pass.

Step 5, clean the window from the top down in an S pattern. Step 6, attach the wiping cloths to the Glider

Step 7 · Final wipe

Reconnect the halves for one last pass to clear any remaining streaks or spots — and the pane is done, inside and out.

Step 7, final wipe to remove remaining streaks, and the result: a pristine window over a city view
04 Which Glider fits your windows

The model is decided by one number

Not the frame — the thickness of the glass itself. Four steps and a ruler give you that number, and five minutes here saves an exchange later.

Which Glider model is best for your windows — measure your window thickness to know exactly which Glider you need

Measure 1 · The frame

Measure the total thickness of the window frame with a ruler. In the example, 0.9″ / 25 mm.

Step 1 of measuring: measuring the total thickness of the window frame with a steel ruler

Measure 2 · Frame edge to glass

Measure from the glass to the edge of the frame. Holding a bank card flat against the ruler makes the reading easy to see. In the example, 0.3″ / 8 mm.

Step 2 of measuring: measuring the distance between the glass and the edge of the window frame using a ruler and a bank card

Measure 3 · The other side

Do exactly the same on the other side of the window. In the example, 0.15″ / 4 mm.

Step 3 of measuring: measuring the distance between the glass and the frame edge on the other side of the window

Measure 4 · Do the subtraction

Total frame thickness minus both gaps is your glass thickness. In the example 25 − 8 − 4 = 13 mm — comfortably inside the D-2 AFC’s 2–18 mm range.

Step 4 of measuring: subtracting both gaps from the total window thickness on a calculator to get the glass thickness

Exterior-facing glass with no balcony, no ladder access and no window cleaner on call.

Upper-floor windows

Work the far side of the pane while staying safely on the inside of the frame.

Single & thin double glazing

Anything from 0.08″ to 0.7″ thick, which covers most standard windows.

Homes & offices

Anywhere exterior cleaning is awkward enough that it simply stops happening.

Straight answers

How do I know if my window is the right thickness?

Follow the four measuring steps above. Measure the glass itself, not the frame. The D-2 AFC covers 0.08″ to 0.7″ (2–18 mm), which is most single panes and thinner double-glazed units. If your glass comes out thicker, this is the wrong model — we make the D3 and D4 for thicker units, and getting this right first is the difference between a tool that works and one that keeps letting go.

Do I still need to reach the outside of the window?

Once, to place the outer half on the glass — usually through an opening sash, a tilt-turn window or a sliding door. After that the whole pass is controlled from inside. On a fixed pane that does not open at all, you will not be able to position the outer half.

How strong are the magnets?

Strong enough to demand respect. Always join and separate the two halves by sliding them together or apart across the glass, never face-to-face in the air, and keep fingers clear of the gap. Put the safety cord on before the halves ever touch, and keep children away while you work.

Why is it leaving streaks?

Usually one of three things: not enough solution on the glass, a cloth that has picked up grit, or moving too fast. Re-wet the pane, swap in a clean cloth, and slow down. Very dirty exterior glass often needs one rinsing pass before the finishing pass.

Will it work through an insect screen?

No. The screen has to be removed, or the window opened past it, so the outer half can sit directly on the glass.

Is it automatic?

No — it is a manual tool. You supply the movement; the magnets supply the reach. That is also why there is nothing to charge and nothing to break.
